Who Are You?

Who Are You?

You know, our identity is something that you don’t really think about until after you’ve lost it.

It’s always after you don’t have that job anymore, that you realize you found a lot of who you are in that role. It’s always after you don’t have that boyfriend anymore, that you found your identity in being their significant other.

It’s always after you’ve graduated from High School, that you realize that you found your identity in being popular and cool in school.

So what would it look like to create a sense of identity not based on the external things but on the internal? One might say that you create your identity based on the things you identify with. So, If I studied design, then part of my identity would be “designer.” Instead, what would it look like to identify the quality or character and apply that to our identity? So, if I studied design, then part of my identity would be that I’m creative.

So, if we created our identity based on who we truly are, our identity can never be lost. Our identity will always remain, because that is who we are.
